On this week’s podcast, hear prolific South Korean director Hong Sang-soo discuss his career and process at the 55th New York Film Festival. This Friday, March 9th, Hong’s film Claire’s Camera will open here at the Film Society for an exclusive theatrical run.
Claire’s Camera is one of three films Hong premiered in 2017, along with The Day After, a black-and-white tale of mistaken identity, déjà vu, and adultery; and On the Beach at Night Alone, an achingly personal response to public scandals surrounding his romantic life. The latter two films had their New York premieres at NYFF, during which Hong took part in one of our HBO Directors Dialogues. The conversation was moderated by the Film Society’s Director of Programming Dennis Lim.
