On this week’s podcast, Chinese director Jia Zhangke discusses Ash Is Purest White at the 56th New York Film Festival.

Jia has gradually moved to the forefront of Chinese cinema, and his films constitute a constant reckoning with his country’s transformations. His latest, the epic gangster drama Ash Is Purest White, is no exception. The film was a Main Slate selection at the 56th New York Film Festival, and ahead of its official release in March we’ll be presenting a sneak preview screening with the director in person on February 14.
