Film Comment Selects, the magazine’s festival of movies curated by its editors, returns in its 19th edition offering strikingly bold visions, mixing New York premieres of new films and long-unseen older titles that deserve the big-screen treatment. The series kicked off last night with the New York Premiere of Sunset and continues through February 10th.

Sunset is the new film from László Nemes, the director of the Academy Award-winning Son of Saul. It tells the nightmarish story of an orphaned young woman, Irisz, searching for her mysterious brother while working at an upscale hat emporium.

Nemes joined Film Comment editor Nicolas Rapold for a Q&A after the screening. The director will return this Saturday at 5pm for a free Film Comment Talk at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center Amphitheater. Listen below or click here to subscribe and listen on iTunes.
