On this week’s podcast, we’re sharing a panel discussion featuring artist Laurie Anderson and others that took place at this year’s New York Film Festival.
The event was titled “Keeping Cultural Borders Open,” and it centered around the launch of The Federation, a collective of artists and activists banding together in response to the increased xenophobia and closing of physical borders. The coalition is committed to keeping cultural borders open and recognizing how essential artistic experiences are to fostering compassion, critical thinking, and joy.
Near the end of the impassioned and inspirational discussion, you’ll hear an impromptu performance by the Resistance Revival Chorus.
Anderson was joined by co-founder Tanya Selvaratnam, curator and writer Kali Holloway, singer-songwriter Alsarah, musician Emel Mathlouthi, filmmaker Sara Driver, and filmmaker Barbet Schroeder. The conversation was moderated by the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Deputy Director Eugene Hernandez.
