On this week’s episode of our podcast, we’re celebrating the opening of the 25th New York Jewish Film Festival with a highlight from our archives. During the 2014 edition of the festival, celebrated Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai joined us to deliver a master class, which brought fascinating insight on the full span of his four-decade career. We’re also featuring a lively Q&A from a recent sneak preview of Joy, for which actors Virginia Madsen and Diane Ladd joined us to talk about the Golden Globe–winning film. Gitai will join us once again for this year’s NYJFF, where he will present the U.S premiere of his latest, Rabin, the Last Day, an intense investigation into the 1995 murder of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was shot down at the end of a huge political rally in Tel Aviv by a 25-year-old student. He will also answer questions following a retrospective screening of his 2006 documentary News from House / News from Home. This year’s festival will continue the tradition of the master class, with a free in-depth discussion with filmmaker Alan Berliner on January 24. Click here for more information.
