Philippe LacĂ´te's Run
The 22nd edition of the New York African Film Festival runs through May 12 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. The festival is dedicated to bringing films from the continent and diaspora to New York City and offering a glimpse of the ever-evolving face of contemporary Africa.
The festival opens with South African police thriller Cold Harbour, and this year's centerpiece is Red Leaves, a portrait of the Ethiopian community in Israel. Other notable offerings include student Oscar winner Tala Hadid’s feature debut, The Narrow Frame of Midnight, about a Moroccan man who must find his brother before he disappears into the world of Jihadi fighters forever. Hadid and producer Danny Glover will be in person on May 11 to talk about the making of the film. Later that night, don't miss Ivorian political thriller Run—about a man who assassinates the Prime Minister of his country—which will be followed by a Q&A with star Isaach de Bankolé.
