While presenting the North American premiere of The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) at the 55th New York Film Festival, writer-director Noah Baumbach participated in an extensive NYFF Live discussion on the making of the film. In a discussion moderated by IndieWire’s Eric Kohn, he discussed the impetus for the film and bringing together his impressive ensemble. “Hollywood is a place where they make you want something you didn’t previously want and then tell you that you can’t have it,” says Baumbach. He also discussed how he tries to push into new territory with each film and what he finds compelling about capturing New York City in his films.

The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) opens in limited theaters and hits Netflix on October 13. To see more events from the 55th New York Film Festival, as well as Film Society events throughout the year, subscribe to our YouTube channel!
