In celebration of IndieWire‘s 20th anniversary, we joined forces with them to present a free NYFF Live panel called “I Am Indie: 20 Years of Independent Film.” Participants included influential indie stalwarts like actress and director Rose McGowan (Dawn), cinematographer Ellen Kuras (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), writer-director Ira Sachs (Little Men), and documentarians Steve James (Hoop Dreams, Abacus: Small Enough to Jail) and Roger Ross Williams (Life, Animated, Traveling While Black). The event was sponsored by HBO and Kodak.
