Todd Haynes’s all-ages enchantment Wonderstruck is an intelligent, deeply personal, and lovingly intricate tribute to the power of obsession. In anticipation of its Centerpiece screening at the 55th New York Film Festival, we talked to the director about the film’s ambitious story, sneaking the rich and strange into popular culture, and more. Haynes, author Brian Selznick, Julianne Moore, Oakes Fegley, Millicent Simmonds, and Jaden Michael also participated in a press conference where they discussed the origins of the novel, love for revival cinema, making a true New York film, and more.

On Friday, October 13, at 8pm at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Amphitheater, join us for NYFF Live: Access New Audiences: Wonderstruck & The Blind Boys of Alabama, a discussion on how filmmakers and distributors can increase audience outreach and box-office by incorporating accessible language components for both Deaf and Blind communities.
