The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have unveiled its picks for the Best Screenplays of 2013 with NYFF51 debuts Her by Spike Jonze and Nebraska, written by Bob Nelson among the films nominated in the Original Screenplay category. Festival opener Captain Phillips was nominated in the Adapted Screenplay category for Billy Ray based on the book A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty. Sarah Polley's ND/NF film Stories We Tell was nominated in the Documentary category
Winners will be honored at the 2014 Writers Guild Awards on Saturday, February 1, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City.
