Since 1996, Hong Sangsoo has made nearly thirty films, many of which include the director’s signatures—camera zooms, romantic entanglements, weighty small talk, and structural experimentation. A New York Film Festival favorite, Hong’s films have garnered a dedicated audience around his annual, sometimes biannual, new releases.
In celebration of his two extended runs, Hong’s sophomore film The Power of Kangwon Province (playing nationwide in our Virtual Cinema), and The Woman Who Ran, an NYFF58 selection (playing daily in our theaters), we asked the FLC community for their favorite lines from Hong’s oeuvre. See the full list of quips and excerpts from the world of Hong below.
As our in-theater capacities increase, see what’s playing and coming soon to our theaters and the FLC Virtual Cinema. Join our online community on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or Letterboxd, and don’t miss a thing by subscribing to the weekly newsletter.
