The Writers Guild of America, East and the Film Society of Lincoln Center present two free screenplay readings—excerpts from a drama and a comedy, both written for the big screen—cast by Caroline Sinclair Casting and directed by WGAE member Timothy Michael Cooper.

“48 Hour File” by Hennah Sekandary
Two families navigate the most turbulent hours of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Korean shop-owner Ryung takes up arms with his militaristic brother in what becomes a futile attempt to defend their store, while black teenager Marcus makes a misguided decision that brings him face-to-face with dangerous mob mentality.

“Takedown” by Kelley Sane and Benjamin Forster
Three bounty hunters travel to Cuba in search of Meryl Streep. Little do they know that the 19-time-Oscar-nominee is a trained CIA operative. As they try to outrun a Black-Ops CIA team and collect their reward, they learn about Meryl’s induction into the CIA and about themselves.

Michael Winship, the president of WGAE, will introduce the evening and moderate interviews with both writers. A reception will follow the main event.
