Q&A with Hiroshi Abe and Eiji Uchida. Hiroshi Abe will receive the Screen International Star Asia Award.

The Naked Director helmer Eiji Uchida may be best known for his hard-R films, but he shines brightest when he strums the strings of the human heart.Offbeat Cops is both a tender comedic caper and a chronicle of failure and second chances. The film follows an overbearing loose-cannon detective (played with sublime command by the always terrific and charismatic Hiroshi Abe, now a 2022 Screen International Star Asia Awardee) who, after going full “Dirty Harry” one time too many, is handed a fate worse than the indignity of a firing: he is shunted off to the police band, in bad need of a drummer for its final concert. Humiliated, the rough and rugged cop barks up a blue streak, until he starts feeling the beat and hoping for a chance at redemption.

Premium pricing applies for this event: $25 for the General Public and $20 for Members, students, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
