From Oscar winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola and based on a tabloid tizzy of a true story, The Bling Ring follows a group of teenagers whose obsession with fashion and celebrity lead them to rob the Los Angeles homes of a half dozen starlets including Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton (who appears in the film).

Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga star as two members of the “Bling Ring,” who tracked their victims online in order to break into their lavish homes and steal their designer clothes and possessions in 2008 – 2009.

Coppola has proven herself a master at capturing the naiveté of youth, and in The Bling Ring she tackles the effect of celebrity culture on teenage temptation, leading Film Comment to dub her “a neorealist of hyper-materialist life.” What starts out as harmless fun spirals into a sobering indictment of the modern world.
