Mickey Rooney is the indomitable Huck Finn in this version of Mark Twain’s slave-era classic. Huck would rather not go to school, or wear shoes or be civilized by the well-meaning Widow Douglass. He’s all for lazing about, smoking and fishing on the Mississippi river. He gets his chance, and the adventure or a lifetime, when his good-for-nothing pap comes back to town to claim him. Huck fakes his own death and finds himself on the run with Jim (Rex Ingram), the Widow’s escaped slave. Rex Ingram was actually born on a Mississippi riverboat. A funny, suspenseful tale with some adaptations from the original to condense the story into 90 minutes. Ages 7+.
