Director Matias Meyer in person!

A rigorous and intimate exploration of the dramatic war between Church and State that broke out after President Plutarco Elias Calles ordered the closing of Catholic churches across Mexico in the 1920s. Director Meyer creates a visually powerful tribute to the bravery and perseverance of the last Christian rebels by trying to convey what it might have felt to be one of these campesino fighters, embarked on a physical and spiritual quest in defense of religious freedom until the end.

Una exploración rigurosa e íntima de la guerra dramática entre Iglesia y Estado que comenzó cuando el Presidente Plutarco Elias Calles ordeno el cierre de las iglesias Catolicas en Mexico en los anos ‘20. Meyer crea un homenaje visualmente poderoso a la valentía y perseverancia de los últimos rebeldes cristianos al intentar transmitir lo que éstos pudieron haber sentido en su lucha física y espiritual en defensa de la libertad religiosa.
