Update: Due to inclement weather, The Last Dragon screening has been postponed to Friday, September 21.

Meet + greet prior to the screening with The Last Dragon star Taimak from 6:30-7pm by the beer garden/picnic area, followed by an introduction.

This free outdoor screening takes place at Governors Island’s newly restored Parade Ground. Ferries will run from the Battery Maritime in Lower Manhattan, located at 10 South Street. We recommend taking the 6:30, 7, or 7:30pm ferry in order to arrive before the film begins. Food vendors and a beer garden will be open to attendees starting at 7pm.

Inspired by a similarly named martial artist, Bruce Leroy (Taimak) searches throughout New York City for a master who will help him achieve the highest form of martial-arts enlightenment known only as “The Glow.” Along the way, he must contend with Sho’nuff (Julius John Carry III), who sees Leroy as the one obstacle in his becoming the baddest martial artist in Harlem. Leroy also gets involved with Laura Charles (Vanity), a music-variety-show host being harassed by a video-arcade mogul trying to help his girlfriend (Tony-winning Faith Prince) get one of her terrible music videos featured on her show. Set to an amazing soundtrack produced by Berry Gordy, this delightful cult classic was filmed all over the city and has cameos by William H. Macy, Ernie Reyes Jr., Chazz Palminteri, Jim Moody, Mike Starr, and Queen Esther Marrow.
