The 55th New York Film Festival continued with premieres, parties, and more in its first week! Director Sean Baker and his cast from The Florida Project presented their colorful tale of lives on the margins in the shadow of Disney World. Film Comment Editor-in-Chief Nicolas Rapold invited critic Teo Bugbee (The New York Times contributor), writer-programmer Ashley Clark (BAMcinématek), and writer-filmmaker Farihah Zaman (Field of Vision) to examine the latest storytelling on race and immigration in a special panel.

Travis Wilkerson joined us for a Q&A on Did You Wonder Who Fired the Gun? Joshua Bonnetta and J.P. Sniadecki talked about their lyrical film El mar la mar. Alex Gibney presented his No Stone Unturned, and Denis Côté discussed A Skin So Soft following its U.S. premiere. The GameScape panel celebrated Full Motion Video. IndieWire’s Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson recorded their debate and banter in a live podcast. Filmmakers came together at the New York Stories and Documentary Shorts programs.
