Rock the vote! The one-and-only Whoopi Goldberg sat down with the Democratic Party’s rising star Stacey Abrams in a special discussion on All In: The Fight for Democracy, an invigorating and rigorous primer on the history of voter suppression in the United States. The two spoke about how Abrams came to be involved in the project (and became the focus of the film), her historic run for Governor of Georgia in 2018, how she’s is like Bruce Banner in The Avengers, and the insidious and still persistent reality of voter suppression. The duo also discuss in-depth Abrams’s ongoing campaign to support voters’ constitutional right to access the ballot.

NYFF Director Eugene Hernandez also spoke with the co-directors of All In: The Fight for Democracy, Academy Award–nominees Lisa Cortés (The Apollo) and Liz Garbus (What Happened, Miss Simone?). They discuss the process of making a film that is both clarifying and urgent, especially in an election year in which the very process of voting has come under threat from those determined to stay in power.

All In: The Fight for Democracy is now screening virtually with free limited rentals through September 20 at 8pm ET only. Get tickets here.
