This free talk takes place on Monday, October 4, at 7pm in the Amphitheater of the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

With Neptune Frost, multi-hyphenate musician and creator Saul Williams adds “feature filmmaker” to his exhilaratingly eclectic resume. Shot in Rwanda, the wondrous Main Slate selection—co-directed with Williams’s partner, the Rwandan-born artist Anisia Uzeyman—is an Afrofuturist sci-fi punk musical that rails at the ravages of colonialism and capitalism through a distinctly queer lens, extending the preoccupations of Williams’s work in other media into the dynamic realm of the moving image. Join Williams and Uzeyman for a wide-ranging conversation about crossing borders, both geographic and artistic; the radical possibilities of genre; and the use of cinema as a means of realizing new and better futures. Moderated by Maya Cade, creator of The Black Film Archive.
