FSLC announces free-to-the-public NYFF LIVE TALKS at the 2012 NYFF

NYFF LIVE guests will include Tom Rothman, filmmakers Lee Daniels, Barry Levinson, Cristian Mungiu, Sally Potter, actors Gael Garcia Bernal, Greta Gerwig and more. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the details and participants for the free-to-the-public NYFF LIVE series of filmmaker and film industry conversations at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (144 W. 6rth Street) and the Apple Store, SoHo (103 Prince Street). In addition to the NYFF Live talks being free and open to the public on a space available basis, select talks will be streamed LIVE at FilmLinc.com. IFP and FSLC announce the line-up for their 2nd annual EMERGING VISIONS FILMMAKER SYMPOSIUM

Today, IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project), the Film Society of Lincoln Center (FSLC), and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), announced the lineup for the second annual Emerging Visions Filmmaker Symposium, a partnership made possible by RBC's Emerging Artists Initiative, taking place October 4, beginning at 9:00am at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Lincoln Center. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for the 2012 Mountainfilm series, which runs from October 19-21. For the third year, Mountainfilm comes to New York, bringing with it the energy of the outdoors and the power of movies that matter, plus live appearances, conversations and special performances. The series kicks off with award-winning CHASING ICE, where photographer James Balog documents the disappearance of glaciers in extraordinary time-lapse images, while battling faulty equipment, a bad knee and existential questions about our own uncertain future. FSLC appoints Kent Jones and Robert Koehler as new Directors of Programming

The Film Society of Lincoln Center, America’s pre-eminent non-profit film organization, announced today the appointment of Kent Jones as Director of Programming, New York Film Festival and Robert Koehler as Director of Programming, Year Round. As announced previously, after 25 years, Program Director and New York Film Festival Selection Committee Head Richard Peña will step down from his post at the end of 2012 and Jones and Koehler will then move into their new programming roles with the Film Society of Lincoln Center. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today Ang Lee has been added to the roster of its 2012 NYFF HBO Directors Dialogues participants. FSLC also announced the selections for the 16th edition of NYFF’s Views From the Avant-Garde, the popular yearly touchstone for experimental film around the world as well as the presentation of filmmaker awards from the Kazuko Trust for the first time. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today its 2012 NYFF HBO Films® Directors Dialogues participants would be Abbas Kiarostami, David Chase and Robert Zemeckis and the popular On Cinema conversation will feature two directors - Noah Baumbach and Brian De Palma. FSLC announces Gala Tributes to honor Nicole Kidman and Richard Peña at the 2012 NYFF

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that Nicole Kidman and Richard Peña will be the subject of gala tributes to be presented by the festival for the first time during the historic 50th edition of NYFF. FSLC also announced the addition of Kidman’s upcoming film, Lee Daniels’s adaptation of Pete Dexter’s popular novel, THE PAPERBOY to NYFF’s main slate schedule.
