Richard Linkalter's Boyhood

Announcements about the 64th Berlin International Film Festival (a.k.a. the Berlinale) began back in early November when it was revealed that Wes Anderson's new film The Grand Budapest Hotel would have its World Premiere on opening night of the February fest. Last month, the tally of competition titles was increased to seven and, now, the complete program of 23 films has finally been released.

The completed lineup includes 18 world premieres, three feature debuts, and four films by female directors. Among the notable additions is Richard Linklater's highly anticipated, 12-years-in-the-making project Boyhood, which will have a preview screening at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend. Previous Golden Bear winner Claudia Llosa (The Milk of Sorrow, 2009) returns with her English language debut Aloft starring Jennifer Connelly and Cillian Murhpy. Screening out of competition is Beauty and the Beast, from genre director Christophe Gans, which stars Vincent Cassel and LĂ©a Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color).

This year's Berlinale takes place February 6 – 16. The Award Ceremy will be on February 15 and will feature a screening of the Golden Bear-winning film.
