As the Film Society of Lincoln Center celebrates 50 years of supporting the art and craft of cinema and enriching film culture, we’re taking a look back at the New York Film Festival. Above, check out our gallery of photo highlights, featuring Agnès Varda, Jafar Panahi, Hayao Miyazaki, Spike Lee, Jim Jarmusch, Jane Campion, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jean-Luc Godard, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Tilda Swinton, and more! Return throughout the year for special announcements and deeper dives into our archives.
Join us in celebrating fifty years—and looking forward to the next fifty–at our 50th Anniversary Gala on April 29, 2019. Get tickets here. Reflecting and building upon the organization’s half-century introducing New York audiences to many of the industry’s most acclaimed and important filmmakers—including Pedro Almodóvar, Jane Campion, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, Lucrecia Martel, Dee Rees, Steven Spielberg, and Agnès Varda, to name but a few—the 50th Anniversary Gala will honor the Film Society’s legendary past and vibrant present, and look ahead as we extend our commitment to the film community.
The Gala is the most important fundraising event of the Film Society’s landmark anniversary year, and all proceeds will benefit the organization in its mission to support the art and craft of cinema. The Chaplin Award Gala will return in 2020.
