On today’s special “From the Archives” edition of our podcast, The Close-Up, you’ll hear a fascinating live conversation with director David Fincher. In addition to our regular weekly series, which presents new talks with leading filmmakers, every month we bring you a favorite selection from our extensive archives. Subscribe to The Close-Up on iTunes so you never miss an episode and, if you like what you hear, leave us a review!

Back in 2010, we welcomed David Fincher to the 48th New York Film Festival, where his award-winning film The Social Network was the opening night selection. The morning after its world premiere, Fincher joined film critic Todd McCarthy on stage for one of our HBO Directors Dialogues. Their wide-ranging discussion touched on topics like his beginnings as an effects supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, his thoughts on digital filmmaking, and his love of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

For over a decade we have teamed with HBO to present insightful conversations like this one during NYFF. At the festival’s upcoming 53rd edition, we’ll be welcoming to the stage four giants of world cinema: Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Jia Zhangke, Todd Haynes, and Michael Moore. Click here for more information.
