On this week’s episode of our podcast, we’re sharing a fascinating discussion with writer-director Mike Mills, whose new film 20th Century Women is now in theaters.

The discussion comes from one of our free HBO Directors Dialogues at the 54th New York Film Festival, where Mills joined festival director Kent Jones to talk about Humphrey Bogart, his writing process, his new film’s autobiographical elements, and more. 20th Century Women, starring Annette Bening, Greta Gerwig, and Elle Fanning, had its world premiere as the festival’s Centerpiece selection. The film is now playing in select theaters, and will open wide in the coming weeks.
