The Close-Up: Wim Wenders Talks Filmmaking in 2011

In anticipation of the 55th New York Film Festival (September 28-October 15), we’re looking back to the 49th edition in 2011, when we welcomed legendary New German Cinema director Wim Wenders for the premiere of his 3D dance documentary Pina. In a wide-ranging discussion with former Film Society programmer Scott Foundas, the director discussed working in the United States, dealing with commercial failure, embracing new technology, and much more.

The 55th edition of NYFF will feature new films from Richard Linklater, Woody Allen, Todd Haynes, Agnès Varda, Claire Denis, and many more. Tickets go on sale September 10. Become a member by August 23 to get discounts and early ticket access.
