This week we’ve updated our YouTube channel with a number of talks from recent festivals, series, and events. On July 19, Christopher Nolan joined us after a special 70mm presentation of his new World War II thriller Dunkirk. He discussed utilizing different technical formats, the future of filmmaking, and being influenced by The Wages of Fear, Alfred Hitchcock, and Robert Bresson. Later that day, writer/director Gillian Robespierre and co-writer Elisabeth Holm were joined by stars Jenny Slate and Abby Quinn following a screening of their new film, Landline. They talked about how the project came about and dismantling the idea that characters must be likable. Back in March, Menashe played in the New Directors/New Films festival here at the Film Society and director Joshua Z Weinstein touched upon his inspirations for the film. ND/NF closed out with Person to Person and director Dustin Guy Defa, along with members of the ensemble cast, discussed the transition from short to feature-length film.

Person to Person opens at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this Friday, July 28. Get your tickets here!
