Dimensions in Black: Perspectives on Black Film and Media
DIMENSIONS presents a conversation about the state of African American cinema, television, and video today with the editors and contributors to a new FQ dossier that marks a major contribution to thinking about black screens and narratives. Dossier co-editors Racquel Gates and Michael Boyce Gillespie gather contributors Rizvana Bradley, Paula J. Massood, Brandy Monk-Payton, Samantha N. Sheppard, and Kristen J. Warner, for a dialogue moderated by FQ editor B. Ruby Rich. The seven authors engage with each other’s ideas and discuss the film/video texts they have selected. Film/video excerpts will be shown on screen during the evening to invite the audience into the conversation on the present and future of black representation in the U.S. and its consequences. Free copies of the issue will be distributed.
