Free Talk: Working the Image: A French-American Look at Cinematography
Rendez-Vous with French Cinema 2022
March 3 - 13, 2022
The collaboration between a film’s director and its director of photography is central to crafting the film’s visual language, defining its forms and rhythms, and bringing its characters and setting to life. This special panel conversation will bring together French and American filmmakers and cinematographers—working across a range of genres, styles, and moods—to discuss their influences, their creative philosophies and working methods, and the choices that shape their artistic practice. Featuring guests Antoine Barraud (Director of Madeleine Collins), Ashley Connor (DP of Madeline’s Madeline, The Miseducation of Cameron Post), Arnaud Desplechin (Director of Deception), Kirsten Johnson (DP and Director of Dick Johnson is Dead), moderated by FLC Jr. Programmer Dan Sullivan.
In partnership with French In Motion, the Gotham Film & Media Institute and AFC (Association of French Cinematographers)
