Acclaimed New York filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie present a program of five shorts: There’s Nothing You Can Do (4 min), We’re Going to the Zoo (14 min), The Acquaintances of a Lonely John (14 min), John’s Gone (21 min) and The Black Balloon (20 min), along with an onstage discussion. The brothers started making films at an early age and formed the collective Red Bucket Films while students at Boston University, eventually winning international recognition for their feature Daddy Long Legs, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. FLC announces James Gray’s Paper Tiger as the Opening Night selection of the 64th New York Film Festival, presented in partnership with Rolex. The film will make its North American premiere in a gala debut at Alice Tully Hall on Friday, September 25, with Gray and members of the cast and crew in attendance.
