As the imprisoned man seethes over his conviction, his grandmother plots a marriage for him, and the resulting match with a more levelheaded woman (Tang Pao-yun) pushes him to come to terms with the fate that
awaits him. Though well known for his realist dramas such as Oyster Girl (also showing), Li counted this foray into costume drama among his favorite films and won a Golden Horse award for his direction.
