Dotty (Oscar-winner Brenda Fricker, My Left Foot) and Stella (Oscar-winner Olympia Dukakis, Moonstruck) are an elderly couple living on the coastline of Maine. When Dotty takes a bad fall, her granddaughter Molly wonders if Grandma's “friend” Stella can truly care for her anymore. Unwilling to be separated by a nursing home, Stella and Dot climb into their pickup truck and hit the road to Nova Scotia, where they plan to get legally married.
