Pema Tseden’s sixth feature, produced by Wong Kar Wai, boasts mesmerizing cinematography, striking misè en scene, and a deceptively minimalist story for an existential road movie of spiritual transcendence. Dream and reality meld in this stark tale, with its Tibetan locales conjuring the feel of a philosophical art-house Western.
