Sound + Vision Live explores the connections between music and film through a series of intimate concerts featuring live music and original video work.
Sarah Lipstate is a tireless and adventurous guitarist/filmmaker with an impressive résumé comprised of scores, screenings, and installations. Her work for solo electric guitar is loud, bold, and angular, but it can also settle down into pillow-like, drone-laden, and cinematic soundscapes. She is fearless with her guitar, taking it into dark, improvised territories with musicians such as Carla Bozulich, JG Thirlwell, and Glenn Kotche.
Lipstate will present an assortment of her short films, to be accompanied by an improvised guitar piece. One of her earlier performances, a duet with Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo, is available here:
