After a leak in his Tuscan holiday home destroys a 16th-century fresco in the chapel next door, a filmmaker struggling with director’s block makes a deal with the village’s mayor to direct the local Good Friday celebrations in exchange for a public pardon. Alas, his attempt at staging the Passion proves no less difficult than his floundering career behind the camera. Carlo Mazzacurati’s comedy abounds with ridiculous complications and goofy mishaps, supported by Luca Bigazzi’s deft camerawork and good-naturedly silly yet sympathetic performances from its ensemble cast.
