On this week’s podcast, Richard Linklater discusses his cinematic influences. The director’s latest film, Last Flag Flying, starring Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne, had its world premiere as the Opening Night film at the 55th New York Film Festival, and it is now playing in theaters.

During NYFF, Linklater joined festival director Kent Jones for a special event titled On Cinema to discuss how he’s influenced by other filmmakers, such as David Lynch, Alfred Hitchcock, and Robert Bresson.
