For a third year, DFA invited high school students throughout the five boroughs to submit dance films between 1-5 minutes in length for Capturing Motion NYC, a student film competition. Be it a documentary, narrative or art film, the students were encouraged to address the relationship between dance and the camera, linking the two in imaginative ways. DFA hosted multiple workshops, led by Brighid Greene and Christy Park to guide the students through the dance filmmaking process. The competition is moderated by Ellen Bar, Director of Media Projects at New York City Ballet. The winning student filmmaker’s work will be screened on closing night.
