Framed as the recollection of a Chechen woman named Milana, Goupil’s very modern coming-of-age drama chronicles her classmate Youssef’s near-deportation from France at the age of ten. Youssef’s young classmates band together and hatch a plan of action, unwilling to yield the bonds of friendship to the demands of an unforgiving law.
