Closing Night! World Premiere!

How will we relate to one another as technological enhancements proliferate? How will we think of ourselves? We’re in L.A., in the pretty near future – it could be next year, or next month. Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), a lonely guy nursing a broken heart who makes his living writing “personal” letters for others, invests in the newest personalized computer operating system. Her name is Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), and she is several steps beyond Siri. Theodore and Samantha fulfill one another by design and by temperament, their relationship grows, and… becomes complicated, as relationships do. Meanwhile, love is in the air and every sensitive man in L.A. is dating his OS. Director Spike Jonze has always excelled at fashioning poetically idiosyncratic worlds that are just ahead of our own, but with the audacious, funny and sweetly haunting Her he breaks new ground. He does so with the help of Phoenix and Johansson’s lovely voice, a magical pairing, ably abetted by Amy Adams and Rooney Mara. A Warner Brothers Pictures release.
