Xu Dong has to send his beloved dog away when his wife Meiling’s due date approaches.
Xu Dong has to send his beloved dog away when his wife Meiling’s due date approaches. The unexpected death of his much loved pet fills him with rage, and he vows to hunt down the man taking care of him, a real estate developer heavily in debt. At the same time, Meiling figures out that Dong is having an affair, and the couple embark on separate roads of revenge. Their feelings of powerlessness lead them into a dilemma between empathy and hatred, where everyone resembles a captive Manchurian tiger behind the fence of the local zoo. This story of freezing life amid a Northeast China winter depicts hidden undercurrents with deadpan dark humor.
