U.S. Premiere | Introduction by Beatriz Leal Riesco

Julia steps into the labyrinth of Melilla, following the trail left behind by the fractured lives of Hassan, Yonaida, and Culi. Their voices join a chorus of others in an interwoven trajectory that crisscrosses time and space in this border city separating the North from the South, which uniquely embodies many of the key conflicts of our time: migratory movements vs. economic development, peaceful coexistence vs. the “clash of civilizations,” and the basic challenge of achieving harmony. A detailed look at the denizens of Melillenses, a border city whose people both bridge and personify the immense gaps between Europe and Africa.
