This powerfully moving drama from internationally acclaimed director Hirokazu Kore-eda (winner of this year’s Palme d’Or for the upcoming Shoplifters) follows the story of a man struggling to find the truth while questioning his own faith in the law. Leading attorney Shigemori takes on the defense of murder-robbery suspect Misumi, who had served jail time for another murder 30 years ago. Shigemori’s chances of winning the case seem low, as his client freely admits his guilt. But as he digs deeper, listening to the testimonies of the victim’s family, the once confident lawyer begins to doubt his client’s guilt. New York Premiere
