Within the River, Among the Trees
Green Screens: Cinema Planeta
June 1 - 3, 2012
Bodanzky collaborated with 35 Amazon basin communities to create this documentary about their fragile and threatened way of life. They tell their own stories and express concerns for their future in a region threatened by social and economic forces.
In addition to making documentary films, Jorge Bodanzky conducts video workshops in communities along the Amazon River. Within the River, Among the Trees was made while working with 35 communities whose only access to the outside world is through the river. He enables them to tell their own stories and express their concerns for their future in the rainforest. Facing social and environmental pressures, these small indigenous communities struggle to continue an existence in harmony with their environment. Jury Prize for Best International Documentary, Cinema Planeta International Environmental Film Festival.
