Ekin Cheng stars as Chan Ho-nam in this explosive Hong Kong triad saga that launched one of the decade’s most influential franchises. Following a group of young Causeway Bay gangsters as they navigate loyalty, brotherhood, and survival in the criminal underworld, Young and Dangerous captures the raw energy of ’90s Hong Kong street culture. Based on the popular “Teddy Boy” comics, the film walks a controversial line—condemned by some for glorifying triad life and praised by others for its portrayal of the personal costs of gang loyalty. Jordan Chan, Gigi Lai, and Francis Ng round out the charismatic ensemble cast. With Andrew Lau’s kinetic direction, handheld camerawork, a pulsing Cantopop soundtrack, and stylized violence, this quintessential ’90s triad action-drama became a cultural phenomenon, spawning numerous sequels and defining a generation’s view of Hong Kong cinema.
