New York, NY (Oct. 17, 2024) – Film at Lincoln Center (FLC) celebrates the many corporate partners who helped make the 62nd New York Festival (NYFF62) one of the most successful in the organization’s history. Presented by Film at Lincoln Center, the New York Film Festival is an annual showcase of the best in world cinema. Since 1963, NYFF has shaped film culture and continues an enduring tradition of introducing audiences to bold and remarkable works from celebrated filmmakers as well as fresh new talent. The 62nd edition of the festival took place from September 27 through October 14, 2024, and featured 101 films from 47 countries.
“The enthusiastic participation of our returning corporate and media partners, with an extraordinary list of new organizations pledging their support of the 62nd New York Film Festival, has been extremely gratifying,” said Elizabeth Gardner, Vice President, Partnerships and Advertising, Film at Lincoln Center. “Their commitment to Film at Lincoln Center’s annual celebration of the most significant films of the year was crucial for making this year’s festival a cherished experience for film lovers and an unparalleled success.”
“We are proud to support the New York Film Festival, which sits atop a long list of prestigious film festivals that have chosen NYC, the creative capital and a leading global production hub, as their home,” said NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman. “NYC’s film and TV industry is a multibillion-dollar economic engine that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and this administration is committed to supporting this industry, and the events that celebrate the craft of filmmaking, like the New York Film Festival.”
Many of NYFF’s corporate partners presented specific sections of the annual event. Longtime partner HBO® returned to sponsor NYFF62 documentary features and to serve as the presenting partner of NYFF Talks. MUBI returned as the sponsor of NYFF62 Currents feature films. New York Film Academy returned to sponsor two NYFF62 student screenings: one for Spotlight selection Union (dir. Brett Story and Stephen Maing) and one for Revivals selection Compensation (dir. Zeinabu irene Davis).
In partnership with Rolex, NYFF62 celebrated Rolex Testimonee Jia Zhangke at the U.S. premiere of Caught by the Tides and the Amos Vogel Lecture, an annual talk delivered by an artist or thinker who embodies the spirit of NYFF co-founder Amos Vogel. Both events were sold out, and the Amos Vogel Lecture featured a conversation between Jia and Walter Salles, director of NYFF62 Spotlight selection I’m Still Here and the 2014 documentary Jia Zhangke, a Guy From Fenyang.
New partner Criterion honored its 40th anniversary by building a replica of its famous film closet inside an 18-foot delivery van. Located in front of Alice Tully Hall, Criterion Closet Picks saw lines around the corner in both rain and shine and attracted more than 900 visitors over four weekend days.
The Travel Agency: A Cannabis Store, New York’s premier cannabis store and a purpose-driven, BIPOC-founded company, proudly served as NYFF62’s first-ever cannabis partner by sponsoring Cinephile Game Nights. These lively, interactive events, held both at Film at Lincoln Center and The Travel Agency’s Union Square location, fostered an atmosphere of community and creativity. More than 500 film enthusiasts gathered across six sold-out events, highlighting the perfect marriage between film and cannabis.
As part of a promotion with year-round FLC partner American Airlines, an AAdvantage® member plus a guest experienced an exclusive NYFF62 VIP Experience, including tickets to five Centerpiece weekend screenings curated by NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim, with access to private receptions and events.
Select NYFF62 events were generously supported by new bar partners, including Via Carota Craft Cocktails at the festival’s Opening Night party at Tavern on the Green, The Cocktail Collection at the NYFF62 Industry Welcome Reception, and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne at the Closing Night reception.
This year’s FLC Critics Academy was sponsored by Rotten Tomatoes, and the FLC Artists Academy was sponsored by Dolby, which hosted a special screening of NYFF62’s Opening Night selection Nickel Boys, featuring a post-screening panel with director RaMell Ross and the film’s sound and music team. The mission of the FLC Academy Programs is to support the next generation of film artists and critics and to foster a film culture that embraces diverse storytelling and points of view.
NYFF62’s impressive list of media partners included The New York Times, Variety, Deadline, WABC-TV, The Hollywood Reporter, The WNET Group, IndieWire, The Envelope by the Los Angeles Times, and IMDb. Additional collaborators include Contributing Partners BritBox, Bloomberg Philanthropies, School of Visual Arts BFA Film, Manhattan Portage, and UniFrance. Additional support was provided by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
