In 1981, Merrily We Roll Along closed after just 16 days on Broadway. In his new documentary, Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened, cast member Lonny Price reminisces, with the help of some archival footage, about the rollercoaster ride the show became for the young, unknown cast. In this Q&A from its world premiere at the 54th New York Film Festival, Price is joined by fellow cast member Abby Pogrebin and theater critic Jesse Green for a discussion about everything from the making of the film to the experience of working with legends Hal Prince and Stephen Sondheim. The film opens Friday here at the Film Society, with more Q&As scheduled for opening weekend.
