North American Premiere

North American Premiere
Following on from Linda Linda Linda and Tamako in Moratorium, director Nobuhiro Yamashita helms a film about memory and the healing power of rock ’n’ roll. Subaru Shibutani plays Shigeo, who has lost his memory after being beaten up following his release from prison. Discovering Shigeo’s singing skills (Shibutani is the lead singer of the popular Kanjani Eight), Kasumi (Fumi Nikaido) takes him in, puts him to work cleaning the recording studios where they live, and makes him the front man in the band she represents. As his memory begins to return, Shigeo is caught between his dark past and the new life he has found. Dealing with redemption, second chances, and the power of music, this romantic comedy never descends into cliché and allows its extremely human central characters to reveal themselves slowly.
