Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to play Philippe Petit, better known as the man who surreptitiously mounted a daring tight rope walk atop the World Trade Center in 1974. The 3D narrative of the story was made famous again in recent years by James Marsh's doc Man On Wire.

Opening the fest is Ana Lily Amirpour's A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, while Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard's unconventional Nick Cave "documentary" 20,000 Days On Earth will close out the event, which runs March 19 - 30 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art.
