The FLC Community’s Favorite Documentaries About Artists

Rolling Thunder Revue

In celebration of Ailey, Jamila Wignot’s introspective documentary on the legendary choreographer, continuing its run in our theaters (get tickets here), we asked the FLC community for their favorite documentaries about artists.

From painters to photographers and musicians to writers, the selections were a testament to the importance of artists in our culture. Notable titles include D. A. Pennebaker’s Bob Dylan: Dont Look Back, Agnès Varda’s The World of Jacques Demy, Terence Dixon’s Meeting the Man: James Baldwin in Paris, Les Blank’s Burden of Dreams, and Wim Wenders’s Notebook on Cities and Clothes.

As our in-theater capacities increase, see what’s playing and coming soon to our theaters and the FLC Virtual Cinema. Join our online community on InstagramTwitterFacebook, or Letterboxd, and don’t miss a thing by subscribing to the weekly newsletter.
