One-week exclusive run
Q&A with Liv Corfixen and Nicolas Winding Refn at the 6:20pm show on February 28, moderated by David Fear
Introduction by Corfixen and Refn at the 8:15pm show on February 28
Half home movie, half treatise on the anxieties that plague every artist, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn offers tremendous access to its subject—which is to be expected, given that director Liv Corfixen is also Mrs. Refn. Spanning the hectic shoot of Only God Forgives (Refn’s most personal work to date), the film finds the family (including two young daughters) uprooted to Bangkok for six months, gambling security and reputation on a script that even star Ryan Gosling called “the strangest thing I’ve ever read.” Much more than a “making-of” featurette, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn documents intimate spousal exchanges, eleventh hour fundraising with Gosling, and sage-like wisdom from fellow outré auteur Alejandro Jodorowsky. With a soundtrack by Refn composer Cliff Martinez, Corfixen’s film offers a warm, domestic perspective on the creative process and an all-access-granted portrait of one of contemporary world cinema’s most enigmatic figures. A RADiUS-TWC release.
